This is the Privacy Policy of Nomu Finance Limited (Nomu,we, our, or us).

We comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 (the Act)when handling personal information. Personal information is information held and processed about an identifiable individual (a natural person).

  • Information about your application, account and account activity and all interactions and correspondence with us (including SMS, email and telephone).
  • Information about your property, assets or goods(where relevant).
  • Copies of documents you provide (for example, your New Zealand Drivers License or New Zealand Passport) or any personal information including biometric identification) contained within these documents which you submit to us electronically.
  • Information about your interactions with us including through any electronic service.
  • Details of your computer or network including activity within any electronic service used or provided by us, including e-mail, social media, electronic application, electronic document collection and details of any mobile device you used to access an electronic service (for example, your IP address, security information, geo-location).

How we collect your personal information

We will collect your personal information from you directly where possible, through our website, marketing campaigns, promotions or competitions run by us. We may also collect information from common internet technologies like cookies and analytics.

We may collect bank account transaction information from your bank or financial institution using secure bank data providers with your consent.

We may obtain your credit score and credit-related information from Centrix and Experian reporting agencies.

How we use your personal information

We collect, retain, use and disclose your personal information in order to provide the information and services that you request from us, and to provide you with information about other services we consider appropriate.

Specifically, we may use it to

  • Assess and provide a response to any application you submit to us including assessing your current and ongoing credit-worthiness.
  • Open and administer an account for you following a successful application
  • Facilitate your entry into any relevant insurance.
  • Monitor your account(s) to prevent and detect fraud.
  • Verify (or re-verify) your identity and address as required, including electronically.
  • Operate, improve and optimise our website or any electronic service for our customers, including sending you service, support and administrative messages, reminders, and updates.
  • Communicate with you about your application, account or any lending, product or services being offered by us.
  • Provide other related products or services(including electronic services) to you.
  • Conduct market research and statistical analysis.
  • Ensure we comply with our legal obligations including under New Zealand credit, privacy legislation and regulation, and under any industry codes of conduct.

Who we share your personal information with

We may share your personal information with trusted partners and organisations that help us provide our services and meet our legal requirements.

These may include credit reporting agencies, lenders, pastor current credit providers, insurers, government agencies (such as the New Zealand Transport Agency, Department of Internal Affairs, Inland Revenue and other regulators), employers, banks, law enforcement agencies, technology providers, debt collection agencies, and any joint applicant or authorised representative.

We may also share information with any assignee or potential assignee of our rights in relation to your application or account.

By submitting an application, contacting us or using our services, you authorise Nomu Finance to request and obtain your personal information from these sources and consent to them providing information to Nomu Finance for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Your rights

Providing your personal information to us is always your choice. However, if you choose not to provide certain details or do not consent to our collection and use of your information as outlined in this policy, we may not be able to assess or process your application and may be unable to proceed with it.

You can opt out of receiving marketing messages from Nomu Finance at any time by following the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us directly.

You are entitled, on request, to receive confirmation of whether we hold any personal information about you. Where any of your personal information can be readily retrieved, you may request access to it and ask us to correct any details you believe are inaccurate or incomplete. You also have the right to be notified of any action we take in response to your request.
